Special Weather Statement Issued For Inland Southern CT

The National Weather Service has just issued a Special Weather statement for inland sections of Southern Connecticut.

If you're driving late tonight or early Friday, you'll want to be careful about slippery roads. The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

The National Weather Service says, "A light wintry mix is possible late tonight, beginning after midnight and quickly transitioning to rain prior to the morning commute. Although accumulations are expected to be minimal, any ice can cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for the possibility of slippery roads and locally reduced visibilities...and use caution while driving."

The weather service adds that the "Precipitation may begin as a wintry mix across portions of ... ... inland southern Connecticut. However, a change over to plain rain is expected by daybreak. Little, if any snow accumulation is expected, with the potential of just a glaze of ice."

The plain rain will end Friday evening. Some of the rain may be heavy at times in the morning and afternoon hours. An inch of rain is expected.

"The warm front will lift north late in the day, and temperatures will respond by being well above
normal for this time of year. Expect highs in the 50s region- wide. The weekend will feature dry conditions with the cold front pushing off shore and high pressure building in. It will continue to be warm on Saturday with a return to much cooler conditions on Sunday."
