Swastika Drawn In Ridgefield High School Classroom

This is the second time this school year the school has found anti-Semitic graffiti on campus.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A swastika was found drawn on a classroom door at Ridgefield High School Tuesday, Dr. Stacey Gross told parents in an e-mail Tuesday afternoon. School officials told students of the incident through the school's PA system.

This isn't the first time this year that anti-Semitic graffiti has popped up around town. A swastika was found at RHS etched into a table in September. In June, Police found anti-Semitic symbols and racist statements on the stage at Ballard Park. Gross also addressed parents in March of an incident on an outside area of the high school's campus, which sparked a strong response from students.

"As we have previously stated our school stands for respect and inclusion, a place where all are welcome and appreciated," Gross told Students through the PA system. Incidents such as these go against our School Mission Statement and who we are as a community. We will continue our partnerships with the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center to address these issues."

Gross also said a full investigation had been completed and reported to the town's School Resource Officer.

"We are counting on you to share in the ownership of creating a positive RHS culture and community by speaking up if you become aware of any act that goes against our school values," The message read. "Please stand with us in denouncing this behavior and continuing to build a positive school community. Thank you."
