Thrown Stone Goes Off-Broadway and More Big News

Thrown Stone Steps Onto the National Stage

Thrown Stone Steps Onto the National Stage

We’re proud to announce that The Waterfall, developed by Thrown Stone from its earliest stages, will premiere Off-Broadway from January 31 to March 1, 2026. This co-production of Thrown Stone and WP Theater, underwritten by Dee Dee Colabella, marks our Off-Broadway debut — a major milestone for Thrown Stone and a defining moment for our mission to develop and produce new work for the American stage.

Written by Phanésia Pharel and directed by Obie Award-winner Taylor Reynolds, The Waterfall was conceived during our 068 Magazine Playwriting Fellowship and has since been workshopped in partnership with The Old Globe, Keeler Tavern Museum, and the New Harmony Project.

New Harmony Recap

At the 2025 New Harmony Theatre Project residency, Thrown Stone undertook a weeklong Production in Residence for The Waterfall. Every page of the script was reworked in an intensive process that culminated in a public reading at Thrall’s Opera House. Resident playwrights, artistic leaders from across the country, and members of the New Harmony community responded with an extended standing ovation — a powerful milestone as the play moves toward its Off-Broadway world premiere.

Fools’ Paradise Opens 2025 with a Bang

Thrown Stone launched its 2025 season and began a new residency in South Norwalk with the world premiere of Fools’ Paradise by Co-Artistic Director Jonathan Winn — a biting satire of privilege, indulgence, and wishful thinking set in a luxury suite at the end of the world.

Critic Bonnie Goldberg called it “emotionally captivating.”

Audiences agreed:

“Great show, great acting.”
“I didn’t know what to expect — and I’m so glad I came.’”
“Love the new space!”
