Tray Wellington Band to Perform at Ridgefield’s Ballard Park As Part Of Free CHIRP Concert
Tray Wellington Band brings genre-blending bluegrass to Ridgefield's Ballard Park for free CHIRP concert.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Tray Wellington Band will perform July 22 at Ballard Park as part of Ridgefield’s CHIRP summer concert series, offering a genre-defying take on bluegrass music. The concert is free and begins at 7 p.m.
Led by acclaimed banjo player Tray Wellington, the Raleigh, N.C.-based group infuses traditional bluegrass with elements of jazz, funk, rock, and world music. A recipient of the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year and Momentum Band of the Year awards, Wellington is widely recognized for expanding the possibilities of the five-string banjo.
The July 22 concert is underwritten by the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation and is part of CHIRP (Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks), a free concert series held every Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 28. CHIRP is co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Parks & Recreation Department and The Ridgefield Press.
