UPDATE: Missing Ridgefield Hiker Found Dead: Police

Emergency worker teams found the body of Jack Gordon following an 18-hour search along the Bennett's Pond State Park trail system.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The 57-year-old Ridgefield man who went missing while hiking has been found dead.

Investigators found the body of Jack Gordon following an 18-hour search along the Bennett's Pond State Park trail system.

Gordon left his residence for a hike Sunday afternoon, according to a statement from the Ridgefield Police Department. The police were notified he was missing at around 4:45 p.m.

Local police and Ridgefield fire companies were joined by rescue workers from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as well as police and fire companies from Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, and Greenwich deploying drones, K-9s and air support.

Gordon's death was not suspicious, according to Ridgefield Police Capt. Jeff Raines.

The incident remains under investigation by DEEP and the state Medical Examiner's Office.
