Vision for 30 Acres: Final Workshop for Former Schlumberger Property
Ridgefielders are invited to participate in a town-wide workshop for the future of Ridgefield's Schlumberger property.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Schlumberger Committee analyzed the results of the September and January surveys and has begun to develop recommendations to be presented to the Board of Selectmen in May. The January survey included three options:
1) Municipal Use Option
2) Cultural Use Option
3) Land Bank Option
The final public workshop to preview the current direction and gather input will take place on Thursday, April 28 at the Ridgefield Recreation Center, Charter Oak Room, 195 Danbury Road, at at 6:30 p.m. A concept map will be available for the public to view.
The Town of Ridgefield purchased the 45-acre property between Old Quarry Road and Sunset Lane in 2012 and currently oversee 30 acres after selling 15 acres to two separate developers.
The property was bought by the Town for $7 million, approved by voters at a referendum in 2012.
The Schlumberger Citizens Committee is a nine-member committee appointed by the Board of Selectmen charged with determining the future of the former Schlumberger property.
According to the Town website, the Selectmen have given the committee "latitude" with the exception of considering a Maurice Sendak Museum on the site to honor the longtime Ridgefield resident Maurice Sendak, famed illustrator and children’s book author.
