Weir Farm opens applications for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence program, offering seven artists month-long residencies.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Weir Farm National Historical Park has opened applications for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence program, offering month-long creative residencies at the historic site straddling Ridgefield and Wilton.

The application window runs from Nov. 1, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2026. Visual artists can access the open call through the park’s website or via the Call for Entry platform.

The program will select seven artists through a competitive, juried process. Residencies take place between April and October 2026 and are open to emerging and established artists who will be at least 25 years old at the time of application. Eligible disciplines include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media.

The residency continues a long artistic tradition at Weir Farm, where American Impressionist Julian Alden Weir lived and worked beginning in 1882. More than 250 artists have participated in the residency program over the past several decades.

Park officials noted that maintaining an active artistic presence is a key part of the site’s mission. Weir Farm’s residency is one of more than 50 programs offered across the National Park Service.

The program is supported by the Friends of Weir Farm, the park’s philanthropic partner.

Weir Farm National Historical Park, located at 735 Nod Hill Road, draws visitors and artists with its studio spaces, historic landscape and ties to American art history.
