In Memoriam: Michael 'Mike' Sarno

The Rocky Hill resident passed away Nov. 17 at the age of 71.

Michael ‘Mike’ Sarno, 71, of Rocky Hill, husband of Cynthia (Talbot) Sarno, passed away on Tuesday, November 17 at Ledgecrest Health Care Center after a long illness.

He was born and raised in Hartford, moving to Bloomfield, then to Rocky Hill where he resided most of his life. Mike was formerly employed by the Town of Rocky Hill as a mini-bus driver for the Human Service Department. He served on several Rocky Hill Town Committees and in 1978 joined the Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance Association as an Emergency Medical Technician. During his 20 years with the ambulance association, he served on the Board of Directors and numerous committees before being voted in as a life member. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Blue Hills Volunteer Fire Dept. in Bloomfield, a member of the Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. and a Medical Response Technician for the Newington Volunteer Ambulance Association.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ateo (Lou) and Mary (Russo) Sarno of Rocky Hill, and his in-laws Gerard (Gerry) and Micholina (Mickey) Talbot of Bloomfield/Avon.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Craig Cyphert of Sarver, PA, Marie and Mike Rinaldi of Watertown, CT; a sister, Annette Burton of Manchester, CT; four grandsons, Dean and Nicholas Cyphert,Joshua and Devin Rinaldi; a niece, Melissa Wooten and her husband Matthew of Jersey City, NJ.

A Graveside service will be Saturday at 11am in Rose Hill Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
