Suspicious Package 'Posed No Danger,' Rocky Hill Police Say

Police responded to a report of a suspicious package that was found at a facility in Rocky Hill.

UPDATE: At 10:35 a.m. Friday, The Rocky Hill Police Department received a report of a suspicious package at the Extra Space Storage facility located at 1156 Cromwell Avenue, police said.

Responding officers located the package and immediately secured the area, police said.

The Rocky Hill Fire Department and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were requested to the scene. As a precaution, safety protocols were enacted including evacuating nearby units and temporarily closing surrounding roads, police said.

Out an abundance of caution, The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad was contacted and responded to the scene. Following their investigation, it was determined that the item posed no danger and was not an explosive device. At no time was there a threat to public safety.

Police responded around 10:35 a.m. to Extra Space Storage at 1156 Cromwell Avenue on the report of a suspicious package found at the facility.

“Upon arrival, officers located the package and secured the area, implementing safety protocols, including evacuating nearby units as a precaution,” police wrote in a statement.
