Farmington Bank Donates Truck Full of Diapers to Needy Families

When the Farmington Bank Foundation discovered that WIC (the federal program to assist Women Infant and Children) didn’t help parents with diapers they decided that was not something working poor parents should have to go without. Their response was to donate $10,000 worth of diapers to local food pantries.  Gifts of Love was one of several beneficiaries of this gift with the receipt of entire truck full of diapers.

Gifts of Love has been a critical part of the community since September, 1989 when several Simsbury residents decided to help other area families who were experiencing financial difficulty due to corporate downsizing and layoffs by providing groceries and clothing. One neighbor made her garage available for the distribution of food and clothing and as word spread, more families started making contributions. Over time, this simple idea-generosity and kindness from neighbor to neighbor, from family to family-grew into Gifts of Love.  In the past 25 years our neighborhood has grown and so many of our neighbors have responded to the need.  The Farmington Bank is just one of many various generous contributions to our efforts. 

Donations to Gifts of Love are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and some evenings and Saturdays. In-kind donations include lovingly, used clothing for children and adults, household items, and food.  Furniture is also accepted in our household needs matching program so simply call to arrange.
