Obituary: Margarita Tayts, 68, of Southbury

Mrs. Tayts liked to travel and toward the end of her life she was able to travel to Austria, Czech Republic, France and Spain.

SOUTHBURY – Margarita V. Tayts, 68, of Southbury, died in early March of 2016, at her second home in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Mrs. Tayts was born January 18, 1948, in Dobromil, Ukraine, a daughter of the late Vladimir and Zoya Tayts. She graduated from the Shipbuilding Institute in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Russia, in 1971, and went on to work for the Central Research and Development Institute in Leningrad as an economist.

Later, she worked for the Internal Revenue Department in St. Petersburg. Mrs. Tayts emigrated to the United States in 2004 with her daughter, Milanna Datlow, and then lived part-time with her daughter’s family in New York and then Connecticut and part-time in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Mrs. Tayts became a U.S. Permanent Resident in September, 2009, and a U.S. Citizen in October 2015. She leaves her daughter, Milanna Datlow, son-in-law Philip Datlow, and her three grand-daughters Katherine Datlow, Victoria Datlow and Elizabeth Datlow.

Mrs. Tayts liked to travel and toward the end of her life she was able to travel to Austria, Czech Republic, France and Spain. Mrs. Tayts’ main interest throughout her life was her family. She was truly devoted to her daughter, son-in-law and her three grand-daughters whom she loved very much.

A memorial service took place on Saturday, April 2nd, at Christ the Savior Orthodox Church in Southbury. Arrangements were made by Carpino Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, 1070 Roxbury Road, Southbury 06488.
