Southbury's First Selectman Loses Election; Declines Selectmen Seat

Ed Edelson, a Democrat, served two terms as the town's top elected official.

Jeffrey Manville, native Southbury resident, won his community’s highest office last night.

Manville, a Republican received 3,170 votes, while incumbent Democrat Ed Edelson, a Democrat, received 2,902 votes, according to numbers released by the town.

The Republican-American reports that Southbury voted a Republican majority into the Board of Selectmen. Republicans will now a 4-2 majority on the board.

“I will be looking to Ed for advice and help,” said Manville via the Republican-American.

Among other Republicans who won seats on the Board of Selectmen include Jennifer Naylor, George Bertram and Jason Buchsbaum, according to the Republican-American.

“It was very clear. We kept it positive,” said Naylor via the Republican-American.
