Sarah Lucian, community relations director for the Bristol Blues, said that the Connecticut Chapter of the Walk to End Alzheimers will be holding their event Oct. 2 at Rockwell Park.

“The Alzheimer’s Association holds walks in more than 600 communities nationwide,” said Lucian. “They are the world’s largest fundraiser support group for Alzheimer’s Research. The Bristol Blues are honored and excited to host them.”

Lucian said that Team Brainstorm will be present at the game on June 15. They will have information on Alzheimer’s disease and there will also be raffles that night.

“For me, I am fortunate that Alzheimer’s has not yet touched a friend or family member,” said Lucian. “But, it is something that affects the lives of many people, so I am looking forward to learning more about it.”

Lucian said that the goal of the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is to raise $126,000 for Alzheimer’s disease research this year.

“So far, they have raised $13,856,” she said.

The Bristol Blues’ Opening Day for this season is this Thursday, June 9. Lucian said that several “Promo Nights” will be held throughout the season in support of different causes – from breast cancer to multiple sclerosis and more.
