Chicken/Waffle Chain Opens In Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — For many, chicken and waffles are not exactly two delicacies that go together, but as anyone will attest to ... they do.

And one of Southington's newest eateries specializes in just that and it will have a grand opening event on Thursday.

Rooster's Chicken & Waffles, located at 1217 Queen St., is already open and on Thursday, Aug. 24, that opening will be come official with a special, private grand opening event that is only open to Southington Chamber of Commerce members.

The grand opening celebration is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and it will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well.

While free for Southington Chamber members, there is a $25 fee for non-members who register, with complimentary samples and refreshments available.

With a slogan of "Just in the cluck of time," Rooster's is a small, New England-based chain with one location in Massachusetts and three in Connecticut.

In addition to Southington, Rooster's operates eateries in Middletown, New Britain and Westfield, Mass.

It specializes in fried favorites like chicken tenders, nuggets, onion rings, fries, macaroni and cheese and, of course, waffles.

In addition, Rooster's offers wraps, sandwiches and other traditional side dishes.
