SOUTHINGTON, CT — The long road to updating the town's property values is underway, with field work taking place throughout Southington as part of this year's property revaluation.

Town officials last month said field work to do that has already begun, and folks are being told to keep an eye out for contractors working for the town.

What they're doing is collecting data regarding the town's grand list of taxable properties.

"Expect to see property-marked vehicles and properly identified employees in your neighborhood," wrote the Southington Assessor's Office. "This will take the longest of all revaluation-related processes."

Officials said not all neighborhoods will be impacted at the same time, and revaluation employees are canvassing neighborhoods on a rolling schedule through the summer.

A property revaluation is a mandated action that allows towns to update property values, which are then used for tax collection purposes.
