Dobbins Releases Statement on Town Manager Evaluation

The Southington Town Council Chairman on Tuesday said it was the fact that he "met or exceeded expectations in all areas of evaluation" that led to the contract extension.

The following was released Tuesday by John Dobbins, chairman of the Southington Town Council.

The Southington Town Council has completed the annual performance appraisal of the Town Manager, Garry Brumback. This evaluation was based on his performance for fiscal year 2012-13.

For the second year in a row, the Town Council jointly completed the Town Managers appraisal with the help of Council Chairman John Dobbins, Minority Leader Christopher Palmieri, Councilman Lou Martocchio and Dawn Miceli. The review consisted of a self-evaluation section followed by goals and objectives developed and approved by the Council in areas of work performance, team characteristics, leadership/management skills, safety and environment, and overall performance services.

Mr. Brumback met, or exceeded, expectations in all areas of evaluation. The appraisal was based with emphasis on the budget process, support of the Capital Improvement Plan, collaboration with Town Departments, operational reviews and continued collaboration with the Board of Education on shared services.

Garry will receive a 2 percent pay increase for this fiscal year consistent with non bargaining unit town management employees. A three year contract extension was approved by the Council effective from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017.

The Town Council looks forward to Southington’s continued success with Garry Brumback as Town Manager.
