A DUI Charge for Motorist Accused of Driving Erratically in Southington
Southington Police say a witness reported the driver nearly hit a child.

A driver is facing a driving under the influence and reckless driving charges after a witness reported there was an “erratic driver … going through several local streets in Southington,” according to Southington Police.
It was about 9:46 p.m. on Jan. 29 when police received the report that the woman was driving erratically on I-84 before heading onto local streets including Marion Avenue and Mt. Vernon Road.
“At one point, the complainant reported that (the driver) nearly struck a child (pedestrian) who was in the area of the crosswalk on Mt. Vernon Rd. near the Mount Southington ski area. No one was injured,” according to a police report.
Police said officers located the witness and the suspect vehicle on West Center Street Extension.
Police arrested the driver, identified as Alexia Fliss, 25, of New Britain. Fliss also was ticketed for failure to drive on the right. Fliss was released on a $5,000 bond and assigned a Feb. 8 court date.
