People aren’t usually happy to have their house “egged,” unless it happens to be Easter eggs purchased to help support the American Cancer Society through the Bristol-Plainville Relay For Life.

For the second year, resident Rebecca Greeley Ballinger will be holding her “Egg My House” fundraiser – selling Easter Eggs in support of her team for the Relay for Life. She plans to continue to do so annually.
“This is my third year doing Relay,” Greeley Ballinger said. “I just moved to Plainville. My Dad lived in Massachusetts and he was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago. He started a relay in Massachusetts. He passed away in Dec. 2020 and last year was the last year we did the relay in Massachusetts in his honor.”

Greeley Ballinger said her father looked into several cancer-related organizations and believed strongly in the American Cancer Society.
“This year we’ll be running as ‘Dan’s Clan’ in his memory,” Greeley Ballinger said. “I have a big family and so far we have about 20 team members participating.”
Last year, Greeley Ballinger said she sold 1,559 Easter Eggs. If people want to purchase Easter Eggs from her this year, they will be sold as 25 eggs for $25, 50 eggs for $40, 75 eggs for $55 or 100 eggs for $75.
Greeley Ballinger said people can contact her to order candy or non-treat filled eggs to be delivered and hidden on or before Easter morning. Filled Easter baskets will also be available.
The Bristol-Plainville Relay for Life will be held from June 4 at 10 a.m. to June 5 at 10 a.m. at Norton Park.
Greeley Ballinger belongs to one of 31 teams that have registered so far for the Relay For Life, who will have members walking in laps around the park over a 24-hour period because “cancer never sleeps.” They will also have a luminary ceremony on the night of June 4 to honor the memory of those who died from cancer.
“My Dad’s message was always to get screened and get checked,” Greeley Ballinger said. “I’m happy to participate in the Bristol-Plainville Relay for Life. It’s a fun way to help to raise awareness.”
Last year, the Bristol-Plainville Relay for Life brought in $104,139 in donations for the American Cancer Society.
