Elderly Southington Woman Bilked of $7K by Home Health Aide: Police
The suspect is accused of using the victim's debit card and making unauthorized transactions.

A home health aide has been arrested in connection with the theft of more than $7,000 from the elderly Southington resident for whom she cared.
Southington Police obtained an arrest warrant for the 48-year-old suspect who was arrested about 8:15 p.m. Nov. 21 on second-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card charges.
Eileen Vertucci, of Meriden, is accused of using the victim’s ATM card and making unauthorized ATM transactions while she was employed by the victim from April 2012 through June 2012, according to police.

Police began their investigation in June 2012 “when a person assisting the victim with her finances discovered unauthorized ATM transactions made on the victim’s ATM card. “The warrant alleges that during that time, Vertucci had access to the ATM card with authorization to make transactions on behalf on the victim only at certain locations within the Town of Southington. Investigators found 53 transactions between April 16, 2012 (and) June 19, 2012, with a loss of $7145.06 which were not authorized by the victim,” police said.
Vertucci was held in lieu of a $50,000 court set bond with an appearance date of Nov. 23 in the state Superior Court in Bristol.
