Southington Restaurant, Commercial Building Damaged By Fire: SFD
Southington firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at a Queen Street eatery Tuesday night.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Plans to open a new Indian restaurant in town appear to have been impacted as Southington firefighters were called to a kitchen fire there Tuesday night.
The Queen Street eatery had yet to open, but the owners of Jaipore Xpress announced last month via social media they were opening their third location in Southington.
The restaurant "seeks to tempt the taste buds of CT by offering a full take on Indian food with a nod to the authentic culture and vibe of India," reads its website.

That was followed, the SFD said, by 911 calls reporting flames and smoke coming from the roof of the building.
When firefighters arrived, they saw black smoke billowing from a vent on the roof of the single-story strip mall, according to the SFD.
Mutual aid units from Meriden, Bristol and Plainville were called to the scene and New Britain and Cheshire were called for town coverage.
The SFD said firefighters "conducted forcible entry, suppression, rapid intervention standby, and overhaul operations."
No injuries were reported, according to Southington fire officials.
The fire remains under investigation by the Southington Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office.
