How To Safely Battle Porch Pirates: Southington PD

SOUTHINGTON, CT — It's the most wonderful time of the year ... if you're a porch pirate.

But in Southington, the local police department is urging folks to be vigilant against them.

Recently, the Southington Police Department released some tips residents can follow to ensure their holiday items don't end up at someone else's house.

"With holiday deliveries on the rise, the Southington Police Department encourages residents to take a few simple steps to prevent package theft," wrote the SPD.

That includes:

• Track deliveries and bring packages inside promptly.

• Consider using secure delivery options, lockboxes, or having items shipped to a workplace or trusted neighbor.

• Report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood immediately.

"Your awareness helps keep our community safe. Stay vigilant, Southington," wrote the SPD.
