Iconic Retailer To Open New Store In Southington
The new store will open later this year in a former "Bob's Store" and "Bed, Bath & Beyond."
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Town officials have confirmed that a new L.L. Bean store will soon open in a prominent retail spot in Southington later this year.
According to Southington Economic Development Director Louis Petrillo, the iconic Freeport, Maine-based outdoor clothing and supply retailer will open its fourth store in Connecticut at the Bob's Store location at 835 Queen St.
Bob's, a clothing retailer, only arrived in late 2023 after "Bed, Bath and Beyond" shuttered, with Bob's closure due to company financial difficulties only announced last May.

Bob's was only open in Southington for less than a year.
Petrillo said LL Bean's well-known name is a good one to have in Southington and at the RK Plaza.

"Our town is appreciative of LL Bean and RK Plaza owners for locating this wonderful retailer to Southington," he said Monday morning.
Petrillo said LL Bean would not require anything from the town other than a sign permit from the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission.
He said no other permits are required because there will be no structural changes to the store and the use is a permitted one in that zone.
Currently, L.L. Bean has a store in South Windsor and Danbury, with one planned in Enfield as well.
