Man With Loaded Firearms Arrested In Southington After Police Chase
The 23-year-old, who police said has "an extensive criminal history," is accused of running from officers and illegally carrying firearms.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A convicted felon who is barred from having guns was arrested after he was found with two firearms in Southington, police said.
Police arrested 23-year-old Marvin Gaye of New Haven at around 4:27 a.m. Friday following a chase, which began after officers received an anonymous report that "two suspicious males" were trying to open car doors in the area of Wonx Spring Road and Marion Avenue, Southington police said in a statement.
Gaye then fled on foot and was seen running into the woods behind 160 Wonx Spring Road, police said. Officers watched video surveillance of him from a nearby home, and following a "short foot pursuit" they took him into custody.

When officers searched Gaye, they found "various narcotics" and two unregistered firearms — a 9mm handgun and a .38 caliber revolver — both of which were loaded with live ammunition, police said.
Gaye did not have a valid permit to carry the pistols, and he has twice been arrested for carrying a pistol without a permit. Police said he is a convicted felon with "an extensive criminal history."
