In Memoriam: F. Jay Martin Jr.

F. Jay Martin Jr. of Southington and Naples, FL, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 76.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara (Mulligan) Martin; his four children: Mary C. Peterman and her husband Thomas of Southington; Frank Martin III of Hebron; Daniel Martin and his wife Betty of Canton and Barbie Rizzo and her husband Paul of Plainville. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Matthew Paradise of Southington; Alexandra and Colin Jay of Canton; Marisa Rose and Tyler Vincent of Plainville and Derrick, Connor and Rileigh Martin of Hebron; his siblings: Alanna Burns and her husband John; Lawrence Martin and his wife Diana and Stephen Martin and his wife Jackie. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and his most trusted friend, Eugene Tarashuk of New Britain.

Jay was a longtime member of St. Thomas Church in Southington and of St. Finbarr Parish in Naples, FL. He was an avid Yankees, Giants and UCONN Women’s basketball fan. He loved his church, Cadillacs, Apple products and country music.

He was retired as Vice President of First National Stores and also retired from AAA Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
