In Memoriam: Helen Marie Allard Fontaine
The former Southington resident passed away Nov. 23 at the age of 88.

Helen Marie Allard Fontaine passed away on November 23, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of Connecticut (ARC).
She was born on July 8, 1927 in Waterbury, CT, to the late George Allard and Margaret (Hubbard) Allard Saint Sauveur.

Her husband, the love of her life, Armand Fontaine, preceded her into death 23 years ago. Helen’s son, Stephen, passed away 22 years ago.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Terry and husband Patrick of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Janice Smith and husband Robert of Naugatuck, CT; and Nancy Pereau and husband Tom of Southington, CT; and her daughter-in-law, Amie Beaulieu of Bristol, CT. Helen’s son, Stephen, passed away 22 years ago. Also surviving Helen are her seven grandchildren: Jessica Messenger and husband Brandon, Sarah Estle and husband Jason, Caitlin Smith, Elizabeth Terry and wife Erin Oliphant, Ian Terry and wife Michelle Posey, Amanda Beaulieu, and Tyler Pereau. Helen was also blessed by four great-grandchildren, Tyce and Quinn Messenger, and Jayden and MacKenzie Estle.

Helen lived in Waterbury, CT for the first 6 decades of her life after which she retired with Armand to the Berkshires. In the last 20 years, she lived with her daughter in Southington, CT until she moved to ARC in 2010. Helen worked in several of Waterbury’s war time factories, and then as a keypunch instructor. For most of her working years, she worked in data entry for the City of Waterbury and for the Public Schools. She most enjoyed their home on a lake in the Berkshires. In her last years, she was exceptionally cared for by ARC and blossomed there in their love.
Funeral services for Helen will be held on Saturday November 28 at 9:30 AM at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Road, Waterbury.
