In Memoriam: Muriel M. Sheehan

Muriel M. (Swanton) Sheehan, 92, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at the HOCC of New Britain.

She had been the loving wife of the late Richard J. Sheehan Sr. for 55 years.

Born August 2, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and May (Burns) Swanton, she had been a longtime Southington resident.

Muriel is survived by her daughter Maureen Hansen and her husband Michael of Southington and four sons: Richard Sheehan Jr. of Southington, John Sheehan and his wife Susan of Plantsville, James Sheehan of Southington and Andrew Sheehan and his wife Mary of Minnesota, and five grandchildren: Katie, Jonathan, Emily, Christina and Elizabeth.

She was predeceased by her brother John B. Swanton and her sister Dorothy Schueller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
