New Barbecue Restaurant Opens In Southington

The owners operate a popular restaurant in Wallingford, with the expansion into Southington announced in late 2021.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A little more than three years after announcing a new site, the owners of a popular Wallingford-based barbecue restaurant say a new Southington venture is now open.

Pig Rig BBQ & Catering has a new smokehouse at 1843 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in the Milldale section of Southington, and owners officially announced its opening on Monday, March 24.

"It's happening," wrote Pig Rig Monday morning. "This is not a drill. We are ready to go folks. Come celebrate with us and enjoy some amazing food."

The new barbecue join in Southington is at a former Dunkin Donuts site, with Pig Rig announcing its intentions fo come to Southington back in late 2021.

Monday, folks looking to devour the eatery's wide selection of barbecue meats, learned whether or not it was worth the wait.

Pig Rig already has a popular smokehouse in Wallingford at 950 Yale Ave.

It specializes in all of the mouth-watering barbecue dishes that make mouths water, such as pulled pork sandwiches, beef brisket, and a wide variety of savory/sweet barbecue versions of meat.
