The New Britain Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) will present “A Time for Heroes” this Sunday, April 24 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Trinity-on-Main at 69 Main Street.

“This concert celebrates all the heroes who have helped us all during the pandemic, and also the hero in each and every one of us for coping and thriving,” NBSO President Cynthia Carlson said.

The program will begin with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and also feature Aaron Copland’s John Henry (A Railroad Ballad for Orchestra) and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (Eroica). Special guest trumpeter Tom Brown will also perform Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto.

Each piece was hand-selected to raise the spirits of listeners.

The NBSO began its 73rd season on Nov. 14, 2021 with “Each one a Gem” at Trinity-on-Main.

The upcoming concert is the full orchestra’s first return to the stage this year.

“We are grateful and excited to be performing again,” Carlson said.

Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased in advance at newbritainsymphony.org or at the door. Admission is free for students and people under 17.
