Why are you seeking this office?
I am running for re-election because I am deeply concerned about the direction our state and country are heading.
I see us drifting away from our core American values of freedom, personal responsibility, and the belief that hard work and merit should define opportunity.
The government has become overly large, creating barriers that hinder our success while granting excessive power and influence to a select few.
As an incumbent, I bring valuable experience to the table. I believe that voices like mine are vital for our community, and I am committed to continuing my work to enhance the lives of my constituents.
What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
The most pressing issue facing Connecticut residents is affordability.
Prices for essentials—food, fuel, and especially electricity—have skyrocketed, making it increasingly difficult for families and individuals to make ends meet.
Our state’s prosperity and opportunities will continue to diminish unless our government prioritizes policies that make Connecticut more attractive and affordable for everyone—citizens, businesses, new graduates, and retirees alike.
We need to encourage people to stay and attract new residents to help grow our economy.
This requires a commitment to reducing financial burdens and restoring our core American values of freedom, hard work, merit-based success, and limited government intervention.
By addressing these issues, we can fulfill our long-term obligations and build a brighter future for all.
There have been an alarming number of deaths on Connecticut's roadways. Is there anything from a legislative standpoint that can be done to address that?
Highway fatalities are a critical issue that we cannot overlook in Connecticut.
This rise in fatalities is exacerbated by misguided policies from the Democratic majority in Hartford.
They have not only implemented measures like releasing violent felons early and expunging criminal records, but they have also restricted police pursuits, making it more challenging for law enforcement to keep our roads safe.
Moreover, legislation that undermines police protections has made the job of serving and protecting our communities increasingly difficult.
Coupled with the irresponsible rhetoric from the far left calling to "defund the police," we find ourselves facing heightened crime and diminished enforcement.
We are paying a steep price for these harmful policies. I have always opposed these measures and remain dedicated to restoring our criminal justice system and ensuring the rule of law prevails in our state.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I bring experience, integrity, and strong principles to my role as a public servant.
My commitment is to implement policies that enhance the quality of life for Connecticut residents, protect their civil rights, and ensure their voices are heard.
With a proven track record of leadership, I have introduced and co-sponsored over 150 bills that have successfully become law. I prioritize honesty and follow through on my promises.
In contrast, my opponent often sidesteps clear positions and has been inconsistent when he does take a stand.
His previous campaign relied on negativity and misrepresentation of my record, tactics that I have never employed and never will.
I believe in transparent dialogue and constructive solutions for our community.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have served with distinction and integrity in both the state House and Senate, earning a reputation as a principled lawmaker who keeps his promises.
I have successfully collaborated with colleagues across the aisle to pass significant legislation that positively impacts jobs and the economy, public health, transportation, public safety, insurance, energy, and the environment.
Additionally, I have played a crucial role in blocking detrimental policies, such as new taxes on real estate transactions, the individual mandate on health insurance, and highway tolls.
My respect among both parties is reflected in my leadership roles, including serving as Ranking Member on three important committees—Labor, Housing, and Elections—as well as Chief Deputy Republican Leader of the State Senate.
However, my proudest accomplishment is earning the trust and support of my neighbors, who have chosen me to be their voice in state government.
This record demonstrates my ability to handle the responsibilities of this job effectively.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
As a representative of the people, I take my responsibilities very seriously.
Every day, I strive to remind my neighbors that our democratic system is designed for them, with elected officials serving their interests—not the other way around.
I have a deep love for this great country and am committed to preserving our American way of life.
I stand as a strong defender of our constitutional rights and civil liberties within state government.
I firmly believe that the founding principles of freedom, equal opportunity for all, and limited government are essential for our success and quality of life.
I work diligently to uphold these ideals and am vehemently opposed to identity politics and negative campaigning.
My top priorities include restoring affordability, reforming our criminal justice system, and fostering mutual respect within our society.
