Southington, Farmington Top Seeds In Volleyball Tournament Pairings

CONNECTICUT — Three dozen girls volleyball teams from high schools in Hartford and Tolland counties will be among those competing for four state championships, as the CIAC released its tournament pairings Tuesday.

Among the area schools, Southington, Farmington and Innovation earned the top seeds in Classes LL, L and S, respectively, and will draw first-round byes. Defending champions Darien, Farmington, RHAM and Coventry have all qualified for the chance to repeat their success from last year, though RHAM has moved up from Class M to L.

First-round competition will take place Nov. 4 and 5. The Class S championship match is slated for Friday, Nov. 15 at the Sport & Medical Sciences Academy (SMSA) in Hartford, while the other three divisions will determine their champions on Saturday, Nov. 16 at East Haven High School.
