SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local firefighters recently completed life-saving training that, hopefully, won't be necessary anytime soon.

The Southington Fire Department said Tuesday members of the hybrid paid/volunteer department recently completed refresher training on Stop the Bleed techniques "to ensure we’re always ready to respond to severe bleeding emergencies."

"Stop the Bleed" is a program developed by the American College of Surgeons in which responders or even bystanders can quickly save a life by undertaking measures to help patients who are bleeding.
