Southington Man Accused of Assaulting 83-Year-Old

The incident occurred over the weekend.

A Southington man is facing assault and resisting arrest charges following an assault of an 83-year-old town resident.

Southington Police said that it was 7:05 p.m. on Saturday when they arrested the suspect after the victim was assaulted during a dispute and several items including furniture were knocked over. The victim suffered a head injury, police said.

Stephen Cieszynski, 47, of 108 Atwater St., Southington, also is accused of resisting arrest when officers attempted to take him into custody.

Cieszynski was charged with assault of an elderly person, interfering with police and second-degree breach of peace. He was held on $50,000 bond and was to appear in court on Monday, according to police.
