Sending Your Kids To Summer Day Camp In Southington? Register Now
The 2023 Southington Playground Program is for children aged 5-12, with online registration opening up Saturday morning.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Given the winter weather forecast for Friday into Saturday, March 4, summer camp registration probably won't be first and foremost on the minds of Southington parents.
But that's the day the town will open up registration for the Southington Recreation Department's 2023 Playground Program and folks are being urged to sign up early.
This form of day camp is a crucial component of municipal services and it provides children with supervised, summer activities with other children and allows parents to have a safe place for their kids while they work.

Those sessions are: June 26 to July 7; July 10 to July 21; and July 24 to Aug. 4.
Camp times are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Recreation officials noted that, for 2023, the Playground Program site has moved compared to past years, when it took place at South End School and Recreation Park.
The reason for the new site is because the pool at Recreation Park is closed all year for refurbishing and the department will utilize the pool at Memorial Park this year, instead.
Each session costs $150 per child and there is no discount for siblings, though financial aid may be available through Southington Community Services.
As for what the kids will do at camp, the real question is what won't they be doing?
Among the fun activities planned are basketball, board games, swimming/splash pad use, kickball, Wiffle ball, arts and crafts and field trips (among many more activities).
