Southington's Inaugural Citizens Police Academy Seeks Participants
Applicants for the SPD's first class were released on Wednesday, and they are due next month.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — If you're looking to learn about the Southington Police Department and see what it takes to be one of its finest, the SPD has kick-started just the program for you.
The SPD opened up registration for the inaugural Southington Citizens Police Academy on Wednesday.
A free 10-week program for a limited number of participants, the Southington Citizens Police Academy offers an inside look at modern policing in Southington.

Folks will be able to learn about investigations, K-9s, drones, firearm safety, ride-alongs, and more.
The program begins on April 7, but applications to participate are due by Feb. 15.
