The fifth-annual “Smoker” fundraiser will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., rain or shine, at the fairgrounds on Town Hill Road. Local firefighters will be cooking up and serving pulled pork, ribs and chicken with all the sides. Beer and wine are included with admission.
Captain Joseph Dolan with Hose Company 1 said that the event has been very popular and well-attended in past years.

“We had more than 600 guests come out last year,” he said. “People love it and we love doing it.”
Dolan invites the public to come out and enjoy a good time.
“If you haven’t come before check it out,” he said. “It’s all you can eat barbecue with beer and wine and we prepare everything in-house. It’s a lot cheaper than going out for dinner and it’s a really fun event. Bring along a pop-up tent and some chairs and treat it as night out.”
While people enjoy their food and drinks, they can also enjoy live entertainment from “Ear Candy”, which Dolan said is a local five-piece band.
All proceeds from the “Smoker” fundraiser benefit Terryville Fire Department Station 1, located at 21 Harwinton Ave.
“Everything goes back into the community,” said Dolan. “The money raised will be used to support our shifts and programs in town.”
The Terryville Fire Department offers numerous fire prevention programs in local elementary schools as well as with the cub scouts, senior citizens groups and more.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.
