Unique Blood Pressure Class Unveiled At Southington's Senior Center

The class takes place at the end of the month at the Calendar House Senior Center.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Maintaining good blood pressure is an essential pathway to good health, especially for seniors.

In Southington, the Calendar House Senior Center has unveiled a new monthly program to help folks toward that end.

Called "Mind and Heart Morning," the blood pressure program's first class was Wednesday, July 30, and it "is not your average blood pressure clinic," wrote the Calendar House.

Organized by The Orchards at Southington, a local senior citizen living community, the program's emphasis is on ways seniors can consistently lower their blood pressure.

In addition to taking everyone's blood pressure, this program does a bit more.

It features tips on how to keep a healthy blood pressure, such as what to eat and how to meditate, which allows seniors to "experience a calming, guided meditation to start their day."

The monthly class next meets on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Calendar House Senior Center, 388 Pleasant St., Southington.
