Discussion on South Windsor Recreation Center Subcommittee Delayed
Deputy Mayor Gary Bazzano withdrew the item from the agenda at the Town Council's meeting last Wednesday.

The main story that was to come out of the Town Council meeting Wednesday - outside of budget presentations - did not materialize.
The resolution that would establish a subcommittee to research the possibility of constructing a new recreation center - or renovate an existing town building - was pulled from the agenda by Deputy Mayor Gary Bazzano.
Bazzano withdrew the agenda item without comment, though he said in a telephone interview Monday that he planned on bringing up the matter at a future council meeting.

Bazzano did not elaborate further as to why he withdrew the item.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, several members of the public spoke in favor of the town moving forward with some form of a recreation center (Bazzano’s draft resolution appeared to favor, at least, having an indoor swimming pool).

“I’m concerned about the pathway we’re going [down],” said South Windsor resident Kevin Foley, who admonished the councilors. “It’s time to make some bold decisions. We need change in this town. … Don’t run for office; do your jobs.”
