Fire Hydrants in South Windsor Expected to Be Cleared by Friday Afternoon
Snow blocked nearly all of the 700 fire hydrants in town as a result of last weekend's blizzard.

The private contractor hired by the town of South Windsor to clear the snow away from fire hydrants expects to finish the project by this afternoon, according to fire officials.
Fire Marshal Walter Summers and Fire Chief Kevin Cooney in a joint statement asked residents to e-mail Summers at walter.summers@southwindsor.org if a fire hydrant has not been cleared.
"I saw many fire hydrants that were cleared by our residents and I want to thank you in advance for your help during this historic storm," Cooney said.

Mayor Tom Delnicki said that he was pleased with the progress of the work done.
"The safety of our residents has been our paramount concern during the Storm and now the recovery, the clearing of all our fire hydrants is one more step in the right direction," he wrote in an e-mail to Patch.
