Five South Windsor Officers Take Part In Torch Run

Five South Windsor police officers took part in the Special Olympics CT Law Enforcement Torch Run Thursday.

The runners - Chief of Police Matthew Reed, Lt. Tim Edwards, Sgt. Mike Dobler, Agent Ron Littell and Officer Joe Futtner - ran from the Manchester town line on Route 30 to Chapel Road, which covers about 4.5 miles.

The highlight of the run is always passing by Pleasant Valley Elementary School, where the students cheer on the runners.

"I appreciate the turnout and people cheering us on," said Littell, who has been instrumental in making the South Windsor police department the top law enforcement fund raisin organization for Special Olympics CT for two years running.

"This year we are going for the triple crown," Littell said.
