Galligan: South Windsor Does Not Ticket for Not Clearing Sidewalks
There has been some confusion concerning clearing snow from sidewalks in town.

Though some municipalities issue tickets for residents not clearing their sidewalks after a snowstorm, that is not the case in South Windsor.
“We don’t do that in South Windsor,” Town Manager Matthew Galligan said. “We don’t issue tickets for not clearing the sidewalks.”
Galligan said that he understands that clearing the snow off the roads resulted in sidewalks in many cases being inundated.
“If it takes a couple of days to clear or to wait until the snow melts a bit, we understand that,” Galligan said. “If you can clear it, fine. We fully understand the situation.”
The town also has an agreement with a contractor to dig out the approximately 700 fire hydrants in town, though a request is made for residents to clear them if they are able to.
Currently, the town is still working on opening the roads wider and cutting the snow back further “to get more blacktop,” Galligan said.
“Schools are open today, so that sums up that our roads are in pretty good shape,” Galligan said.
