Geer Top South Windsor Finisher at Sandy Hook Run for the Families
Nearly 50 residents ran in the inaugural race in Hartford on Saturday.

The inaugural Sandy Hook Run for the Families 5K held in Hartford on Saturday had a significant South Windsor contingent, with 49 runners from town taking part.
The top finisher from South Windsor was Tom Geer, who placed 11th out of 9,480 runners with timing chips, with a time of 18 minutes.
Michelle Baj was the top female finisher from South Windsor, placing 711th overall with a time of 25:38.

The event, which is described as the largest-ever first-time run in the state, raised $420,000 in donations and entry fees for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund administered by the United Way of Western Connecticut, according to the Hartford Courant.
