Good Samaritan Injured When Sidewiped by South Windsor School Bus
Woman stopped to check on driver who had a diabetic reaction on Kelly Road.

Two women were transported to an area hospital after an unusual traffic incident took place in South Windsor involving a school bus, a car and a pedestrian.
A woman driving her car experienced a medical event at the intersection of Kelly Road and Diane Drive around 2 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Scott Custer, who was the first to respond at the scene. The woman stopped her car in the middle of the road, Custer said.
A good Samaritan - also a woman - walking by went to the driver’s side window to check on the driver.

As the Samaritan was checking on the driver, a school bus pulled behind the vehicle, Custer said. The Samaritan waved the bus to go around the vehicle, which it did, Custer said.
When the bus, which was a transporting South Windsor High School students, cut back into traffic, it sideswiped the Samaritan, pinning her between the bus and the vehicle, Custer said.

The driver of the car backed up her vehicle, freeing the Samaritan, Custer said.
The Samaritan experienced significant pain consistent with broken or bruised ribs, Custer said. The Samaritan’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Upon further investigation, Custer determined that the driver of the vehicle was a diabetic and was having a reaction.
No students on the bus, which is owned by First Student, were injured, Custer said. A second school bus arrived at the scene and picked up the students to continue on the route.
