Tree And Downed Wires Force Road Closure, South Windsor Police Say

Eversource has been notified as crews respond during the ongoing bad weather, South Windsor police say.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Fire officials are urging residents to stay away from downed wires after a large tree came down on Smith Street amid poor weather conditions in town.

The South Windsor Fire Department responded to the scene during ongoing bad weather, where a tree brought down overhead wires, creating a hazardous situation in the roadway.

Smith Street is closed between both Austin Circle intersections. South Windsor Public Works crews placed road-closure signs, and Eversource has been notified.

Officials reminded residents to treat all downed wires as live and to avoid the area until repairs are completed. No injuries were reported.
