Hutton is South Windsor's Pinewood Derby Champion [Video]
Dylan Hutton, 8, emerged out of 170 competitors to win the Mayor's Cup.
After hundreds of races involving over 170 Cub Scouts, 8-year-old Dylan Hutton from Pack 886 emerged as the South Windsor Pinewood Derby champion.
Hutton and fellow Cub Scouts Alexander Jonsson, Brett Smerra and Owen Brown competed in the 4th annual Mayor’s Cup at Town Hall on Monday evening just before the Town Council’s meeting.
Hutton, Jonsson (Pack 390), Smerra (Pack 186) and Brown (Pack 389) had the fastest cars from their respective Packs.
Despite being the youngest competitor, Hutton defeated a tough field that included Jonsson, who was last year’s Mayor’s Cup winner.
“You taught the older guys a lesson,” Mayor Tom Delnicki said when presenting the Mayor’s Cup trophy to Hutton.
The four participants were honored later in the evening by the Town Council.
