My Secret Weapon Part III, South Windsor Chamber of Commerce, Andrea Paquin

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, South Windsor! Today is Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday, party and party and party and YEAH! Party and party and party and YEAH! Feb. 22, 2013; there are 312 days left in the year.

Yesterday I went to my secret weapon, 14-year-old Community Editor Elyssa Millspaugh (Ed. Note: Ted, stop. She’s 24 and she’s your colleague at Patch), to help decipher some tricky language that is bandied about by our youth.

Elyssa is in high school (Ed. Note: Ted, knock it off. She’s a college graduate who has worked with you for over a year) and, therefore, serves as the Rosetta Stone between me and the kids I cover.

So, when I hear a sentence like this:

“I totes look like a slob-kebob today. Whatevs.”

Elyssa provides the following translation:

“I don’t look my best today, but I really don’t mind.”

Here’s your Daily 5:

1. Business networking group at the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce at 8 a.m.

2. Bouncing Babies at the South Windsor Public Library at 9:30 a.m.

3. A Lincoln Portrait is all day at the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor.

4. Girls Night Out at Dynamic Fitness Results at 6 p.m.

5. Andrea Paquin will appear at the Coffee House/Open Mic at the Unity Church at 7 p.m.
