Police: East Hartford Man Found in Car With Gun, No Permit
Khani Jarrett, 31, of East Hartford, is facing charges of speeding and weapons in a motor vehicle.

A 31-year old East Hartford man was taken into custody Sunday after police pulled him over for speeding and found a loaded and unregistered handgun in his glove compartment.
According to the South Windsor Police Department, Khani Jarrett, 31, of East Hartford, was pulled over for speeding on John Fitch Boulevard near the onramp for I-291. Jarrett told police that he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend and that he had a loaded handgun in the glove compartment, which he did not have a permit for.
Jarrett was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle and speeding and was released on a $2,500 surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on the charges Aug. 8, 2013.
