PTSD Foundation Hosts Military Masquerade

Proceeds to benefit vets and others who suffer from PTSD.

The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Foundation of North Central Connecticut will present its first Annual Military Masquerade tonight at 6:00pm at the LaNotte Banquet Facility.

Proceeds from the event will go to supporting local veterans and others who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. The PTSD Foundation has planned a support meeting to follow on June 10th.

"It's a brand new nonprofit organization. A lot of people that need the help can't afford a for-profit place to go," said Missy St. Pierre, who started the PTSD Foundation.

"It came to the forefront because I went back to school and did a research paper on PTSD," St. Pierre said of her foundation. "A good friend of mine had just come back from a tour in Afghanistan, and my son had just joined the military. I have a few friends who have served overseas, and it just became very blatantly obvious to me that there is not enough support for people with PTSD."

"Any support is welcome," St. Pierre said, "Anyone feels like they can help or feels like they need help, they can let us know."
