South Windsor Athletes on Campus: Donahue Scores 4 Goals in One Game

An occasional feature of former South Windsor athletes or current residents who are now competing at the collegiate level

Given the last snowstorm, it doesn't feel like spring. But on college campuses across the country, spring sports are in full swing. There is no shortage of South Windsor natives competing at the collegiate level. Here's how things are going so far:

Greg Pendergast (South Windsor High ‘11) is a sophomore defenseman on the Quinnipiac University men’s lacrosse team. Last year, as a freshman, he started all 14 games for the team, picking up 24 ground balls on the year and. This year, Pendergast has picked up where he left off, starting all three games the Bobcats have played, picking up seven ground balls along the way. Quinnipiac is 3-0 on the year. … Aaron Sladyk (South Windsor '12), a freshman on the Mitchell College men's lacross team, has 6 goals and 3 assists for the 3-1 Mariners. His 9 points are second on the team. ... Amber Casiano (South Windsor High ‘09), a senior midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, had a brace of goals against Dartmouth in an 11-10 loss on Feb. 28. On the year, Casiano has 6 goals and 2 assists and is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 8 points. … Ashley Casiano (South Windsor High '09) is the starting goalie for the Marist College women's lacrosse team. ...  Bryan Tatelman (South Windsor High ‘09) has made four appearances as a junior pitcher for the Stony Brook baseball team. ... Kelsey Daniels (South Windsor High ‘10) is a junior attack on the UConn women’s lacrosse team. She has played in two games thus far for the 5-0 Huskies. … Katie Woods (South Windsor ‘97) is in her third year as head coach of the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team. … Michael Donahue (South Windsor High ‘09), a junior attack on the Western New England University men’s lacrosse team, scored 4 goals and tallied 2 assists in the Golden Bears 21-4 victory over Salve Regina on March 9. They were Donahue’s first points in two games. … David Wolf (South Windsor High ‘11), a sophomore attack on the Central Connecticut State University men’s lacrosse team, assisted on a goal in a 13-8 loss to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on March 1. The Blue Devils are 0-1 on the year. …Aly DiCiancia (South Windsor High ‘11) is a sophomore attack on the Springfield College women’s lacrosse team. … Sean Doolady (South Windsor High ‘11), a sophomore midfielder on the Springfield College men’s lacrosse team, scored a goal in a 22-7 victory over Gordon on Feb. 20. Doolady has played in two of the team’s three games this year, including one start. … Meg Emerita (South Windsor High ‘11) is a sophomore attack on the Eastern Connecticut State University women’s lacrosse team. … South Windsor native Allyson Fournier (East Catholic High ‘11) is a sophomore pitcher on the Tufts University softball team. Last year, as a first year, she went 23-3 with a sparkling 0.71 ERA for the 41-7 Jumbos. … Tori Thompson (South Windsor High ‘11) is a sophomore catcher/outfielder on the University of Connecticut softball team. She has appeared in three games for the 8-6 Huskies. … South Windsor native Tim Kiene (Avon Old Farms ‘10) is a junior on the University of Maryland baseball team. … Adam Zimmerman (South Windsor High ‘12) is a freshman on the Western New England University men’s tennis team. … Todd Doran (South Windsor High ‘09) is a senior on the Marywood University men’s tennis team. In 2011-12, Doran was named the CSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year. He is currently 2-4 on the year, playing No. 1 and 2 singles.
