South Windsor Business Spotlight: Julie's Barks and Bubbles
Patch sits down with owner Julie Lund to discuss her dog-grooming business on Ellington Road.

This is the first installment of a weekly series that spotlights businesses in South Windsor. First up is Julie’s Barks and Bubbles, a dog grooming business located on Ellington Road (From its website: “It’s all about the dogs!”).
Patch e-mailed owner Julie Lund several questions about how and when she got her business up and running in town.
Q&A
Patch: When did your business open?
Lund: September of 2008
Patch: Is it family-run?
Lund: Yes
Patch: Please list the names of the owners and your role with the company.
Lund: Owner is Julie Lund. I take care of the dog grooming and daycare. My father takes care of the maintenance and the bookkeeping.
Patch: What made you decide to open your business?
Lund: I worked for many years at a shop and I always dreamed of having my own business.
Patch: What makes you passionate about what you do?
Lund: I love working with dogs and enjoy pampering them. They are great to work with. I also enjoy interacting with the wonderful owners of them all.
Patch: Why did you decide to open the business in South Windsor? South Windsor is my home town and I found an excellent location to open my shop.
Patch: Do you have a business mantra you live by?
Lund: "It's all about the dogs." My main focus is keeping the dogs happy. Different dogs come everyday and they have so much fun. It's great that I have a job that I love so much.
Patch: Can you tell us about your business background? Any notable awards?
Lund: I have a degree in Animal Care from Becker College. I also attended New York School of Dog Grooming. I worked at a grooming shop for 10 years prior to opening my own business which gave me a lot of experience with customers and their pets.
Patch: Finish the sentence: When I'm not working I ...
Lund: like to keep active. I enjoy zumba, swimming, and biking.
Patch: Do you ever get tired of dog-related quips about your work? Such as ‘Are you dog-tired at the end of the day?’
Lund: No I think they are funny. I enjoy a good sense of humor.
Patch: What's the most rewarding thing about what you do?
Lund: When people appreciate the time and effort I take to make their dog beautiful and clean. Also after a day of play a tired dog is always a happy dog.
