South Windsor High's Choral Spectrum Receives Gold Medal

Show choir competed at the Central Mass. Show Choir Festival on Feb. 2.

South Windsor High School’s Choral Spectrum, an auditioned show choir, competed at the Central Mass. Show Choir Festival last Saturday, Feb. 2 in Dudley, MA at Shepard Hill High School.

Under the musical direction of Jereme Martineau and choreographer Kathy Munson, Choral Spectrum received a Gold Medal and was named the Grand Champion of the morning showcase. The Spectrum Band received the award for Best Band and the best Male and Female Soloist were also from South Windsor’s Choral Spectrum. Junior, Luke Harper and Senior, Jayden Edwards received the best male soloist and best female soloist awards, respectively.  

Choral Spectrum performed "The Basement," "The National Pastime" and closed the show with a spectacular performance of "Monster," all arranged by Keith Abrahamson. As its ballad performance, Choral Spectrum performed the beautiful song "Second Hand White Baby Grand," arranged by Eric Van Cleave.

Choral Spectrum somprises 38 talented vocalists who also showcase their dance skills. They are led by dance captains Dan DeSimone and Brooke Stoker, both of whom are seniors.

The Spectrum band is made of 12 talented musicians who play the arranged music, live while Choral Spectrum performs. The time and talent these students put into this show choir set was amazing. Congratulations to Choral Spectrum, the Spectrum Band, and to the award winning soloists at the Central Mass Show Choir Festival!  

Choral Spectrum will be performing their next competition in Windsor Locks at Windsor Locks High School on Saturday, March 9 at the Nutmeg Music Festival and their final competition of the season will be at the Eastern Show Choir Festival held in Waltham, Mass. at Waltham High School on Saturday, April 6.
